Overview
Angela McGlowan, is a political analyst and former beauty queen from Oxford, Mississippi best known as a Republican Political Analyst for the Fox News Network and as a frequent guest on political talk shows.
McGlowan, a Public Administration graduate of the University of Mississippi, moved to Washington, D.C., in 1993 to pursue her interest in political advocacy. Seven months later she won the Miss District of Columbia USA 1994 title and went on to compete in the Miss USA 1994 pageant won by Lu Parker of South Carolina. Throughout her reign she continued her activism, promoting higher educational opportunities for welfare recipients. In 1995, she became the Outreach Director for Senator Bob Dole’s “Better America Foundation”.
From 1996 McGlowan worked as a Legislative Assistant for Maryland Congressman Roscoe Bartlett (R-6th district) and later for Nevada Congressman John Ensign (R-1st district) under whom she attained the position of publicist during his successful 1996 re-election bid.
In 1999 she joined the Fox News organization as an analyst where she continues to work. She has also appeared as an analyst on PBS’s To The Contrary, America’s Black Forum, This is America with Dennis Wholey and was a frequent guest on BET’s Tonight, and ABC’s Politically Incorrect. From 1999 to 2005 she served as director of Government Affairs and Diversity Development for News Corporation. More recently, she has founded the consulting firm, Political Strategies and Insights.
McGlowan married John Venners, CEO of Veneers Group, in February 2006.
Due to McGlowan’s African American background and right winged political beliefs, McGlowan has been nicknamed the “Black Ann Coulter” upon the release of her book titled Bamboozled.
Her first book, ””’Bamboozled”’: How Americans are being Exploited by the Lies of the Liberal Agenda” was released April 10, 2007, by Nelson Current Publishing.
