He also played flute music and filled several other roles in the ensemble-style cast. He played a minor role as one of the Sharks in West Side Story. One of his more favorite roles was in the competition one act where he was able to play the older angrier professor judging God's final project, the Earth. He concluded the year by directing a cut down version of Sartre's play No Exit. In what spare time he had, he also managed to join the school's Academic Decathalon team, winning several medals at both region and state competitions.

David Stevenson's favorite teacher was Darrell Spencer, who is an amazing writing professor, though he has had many other wonderful teachers that probably deserve credit too.
